Welcome to The Captain of My Soul

Have you ever reflected on the following questions:

What is my purpose in life?
Who is the master of my fate?
Who is it that is guiding me through my journey in life?
Where do I find my greatest source of strength and peace?

Who is The Captain of My Soul?

Hello. I am a grateful Son of God with divine potential who strives daily to be captained by Christ. I am a Christian who is a recovering addict, and who has battled off and on with depression and anxiety, and I continue to fight the good fight each and everyday knowing that only with God can I experience victories and learn from the experiences He places on my path.  One of Jesus Christ’s missions is to rescue God’s children. His rescue efforts sometimes come in the form of others, though I know that He personally ministers to many who seek Him. I also belong to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I believe in God and I know He has a purpose and plan for me, as well as you. I have come to learn that EXPERIENCE IS A GREAT TEACHER… BUT IT DOESN’T HAVE TO BE YOUR EXPERIENCE!

I started this site to share some of my experiences, and the experiences others have shared with me, as well as open up an invitation for you to share the things you have learned. I hope it comes in handy in some way for you as you battle through the whirlwinds of your life. Each of us have some kind of battle we face on a regular basis in which we all can empathize with each other over… the battles just vary. Sometimes the battles are raging, sometimes the waters are calm. But one thing is for sure, life is full of moments that test us, and it is full of constant change. And, it is nice knowing that God hasn’t left us without a guide, or with no hope in the future. He provides peace, strength and guidance through the gospel of Jesus Christ, and it is only through Christ and being captained by Him that we can learn the potential that God has in store for us, and the ways we can turn set backs, heartaches, pain, and sorrow into joy, progression, love, and hope for us, and those around us.

What is the Purpose of this Website?

I write this blog from my perspective and from my life experiences. I am sharing my beliefs, my struggles, my triumphs, and my understanding and encourage you to share yours. What I share is not to be taken as gospel truth, though I try my best to share insights I feel are in accordance to the truths I discover. I encourage you to do your homework, test things out for yourself, and develop your own opinion, belief, or understanding. I believe we all have unique and have varied perspectives on life.  Sharing those perspectives with each other can greatly enhance our ability to grasp the truth about us, the truth about situations, and the truth about the purpose of life.

Have you ever asked your self any of the following questions:

  • Why is life so hard?
  • Why is it that just when I feel like I have a handle on things that I am thrown a curve ball?
  • Why the occasional, or constant, battle?
  • Where is my rest from the storm?
  • Why can’t I overcome my addictions, fears, depression, or doubts?
  • Where is the peace I seek?

This site is dedicated to solutions to these questions, and encouragement for those of us that are currently struggling, and a place for sharing our triumphs. Peace… GREAT PEACE, is available to me and to you. This site is dedicated to the truth that Christ is The Captain of My Soul, and every soul on the earth. He is the only one that can deliver me from challenges, trials, and bondage. When I surrender to Him and realize that I am weak and powerless on my own [I can’t], God is able to do all things [God can], and that I can trust Him [I’ll let him], I then open up a power in my life that can absolutely and completely change me. I am not talking about a temporary surrender until the storm passes… but a lifetime change of my very nature. Turning to Christ with full purpose of heart and partaking of His peace.

I have come to know through my journey in life, through the ups and the downs, that God lives and Jesus is the Christ. God’s prophet lives on the earth today and I follow his counsel. This knowledge brings me great peace, even during some of life’s toughest storms… it calms my soul.
